Batch Record Baseline Holdings

Considerations

Use this page to add cost basis and trade dates to your existing positions via a batch. GainsKeeper refers to this process as "baselining." After this one-time baseline, GainsKeeper will automatically adjust your basis and gain/loss for all trades, wash sales and corporate actions.

Procedure

From the GainsTracker: Import or Manually Record Trades page, click Baseline Holdings in the Batch record your baseline holdings section. The GainsTracker: Enter Baseline Holdings page displays.

  1. To include the entered baseline holding, select the Include checkbox.

  2. Enter the symbol of the holding in the Symbol field.

  3. Enter the original trade date in the Trade Date field.

  4. Select the Investment Type. Options include: Long or Short.

  5. Select the Security Type. Options include: Stock, Option, Mutual Fund, Bond, Other.

  6. Enter the number of shares or the number of contracts (options) in the Shares or Contracts for option field.

  7. Enter the total cost basis in the Total Cost Basis field.

  8. To save the baseline holdings, click Submit Data.
